Popping Pizazz Patriotic Drink

 

 

You can describe the drink as thirst quenching glittery glory. Jubilant, sweet, and delightful.

Technically they are called Italian Sodas and French Sodas, but we like to use them as a fun and unique way to add colors to an Independence day celebration.

Choose red or blue and you got yourself a perfect drink to party with!

Items you need:

• 16 ounce cup
• Club Soda
• Ice
• Torani flavored syrup. Strawberry, raspberry, blackberry work for Patriotic colors.
• Cream (optional)
• Frozen Berries (optional)

Add four tablespoons of syrup to cup. Add club soda, filling 3/4ths of the way, stir. Add ice, top off with club soda and enjoy!

Optional additions are:

Put frozen berries in with ice for some extra color and firecrackers.

To create a French soda, add a little bit of cream. Makes the drink have a richer taste.

Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Wood Banner

 

Declare the glory of our heritage with the perfect 4th of July decoration! It screams, "USA, USA!"

 

What you need:

• 7 wood triangles (you can find a kit at your local Joann's store).
• String of your choice, I used twine.
• 7 wood stars, make sure they are small enough to fit on wood triangles. You can also double the number if you wish to have stars on both side.
• Red, white, and blue paint.
• Paint Brush
• Super Glue
• Scissors

Step 1: If there are no holes in the triangles, drill hole on each side. Paint triangles, alternate blue and red. Also paint stars white. Let dry overnight.

 

Step 2: Super Glue stars to middle of triangle, let dry.

 

Step 3: Weave string through holes, cut string long enough to hang, and decorate!

 

See, it's that easy! It will liven up a patio like fireworks. I love seeing my happy little banner hanging up, looking all patriotic and cute! So fun, so simple.

Bring Out the Piccolos for this Berryific Jicama Salad

 

Berryific Jicama Salad is the essence of late spring turning into summer, fresh and full of wild flavors! The berries can be interchangeable, but I had 5lbs of blueberries to use up and a ton of blackberries from our patch. The berries were begging to be used.

Ingredients:

• 4 cups of Jicama, peeled and chopped (You can find it at your local grocery store)
• 2 cups of Blackberries, whole
• 1 cups of Blueberries, whole

Pour all ingredients in a large container, stir together. And it's that easy!

You can add to top of leafy salads, or eat alone. I've been eating it to help me get over a sugar fix. What's nice about the jicama is it absorbs the berry flavor without losing its spirit and crunch. The salad adds a brightness and extra nutrition to your meals, truly berryific!

Bring it to a Memorial day or 4th of July party to add naturally patriotic colors to the table. Its the John Philip Sousa of the salad world-I can just hear the Stars and Stripes Forever piccolo solo when I look at it.

 

On top of my leafy greens, and chicken. Delicious!
